Consumer Bankruptcy Fillings Increase, Again

For April 2008, the number of consumer bankruptcy filings went up 47.7% over April 2007’s filings.
The increase in filings is due in part to people attempting to cope with fallout from the subprime mortgage crisis. The 92,291 bankruptcy filings in April also was a 7% increase over the number from March.
